13 November: 19-year-old Méte Eksi was fatally wounded attempting to mediate a confrontation between youths of different racial backgrounds. A red memorial plaque in Adenauerplatz commemorates the crime.

1 November: The five-star Hôtel Concorde moved into a building designed by Berlin architect Jan Kleinhues on the corner of Joachimstaler/ Augsburger Straße.

Reconstruction work on Bikinihaus has started. The first phase is scheduled for completion in 2012. The new Zoobogen building complex, including the Zoopalast cinema and the neighbouring high rise, will provide a one of a kind mixture of retail, high-end hospitality and art and create diverse spaces for events and recreation.
The first part of the project N° 195 Kudamm will be finished by the end of 2011. The listed high-rise will be incorporated into a modern glass structure built according to environmentally sustainable standards.
Renovation works on the nearby Cumberlandhaus are scheduled to start in 2011. Unihabited for the last eight years, it has been used for film productions like The Bourne Ultimatum.
Grand opening of the new Zoofenster building next to Zoologischer Garten train station is planned for 2012. It will principally house the luxury chain The Waldorf Astoria Collection.
Renovation of the new Ku’damm-Karree, planned by English architect David Chipperfield, is scheduled to start in 2012. The Theater am Kurfürstendamm and Story of Berlin will move back into the building following its completion in 2015.
